The majority of us have trouble taking care of ourselves. Our everyday routine has paralyzed us. We wish to be able to enjoy the gift of life without having to be concerned about tomorrow. We should treat ourselves as if we need to take care of our younger selves. So, here are things to tell your younger self.
In this article, we'll discover the change of one's inner self over the illusion of time. How can one help themselves from present to prior? Hoping to help someone who is living in the essence of my past.
Life changes over time
We have a lot of weight on our shoulders that we were never supposed to carry. The expectation to be liked by the people around us, the need to fall in love before it's too late, the weight of finding the right job to impress our family. Paralyzed by our own thoughts can put us in a state of fear.
When you try to control everything, fear has something to keep you bound to. This often leads to an unhappy lifestyle.
Even when we are miserable, we rarely take action to improve our lives. This is primarily due to a lack of knowledge, self-awareness, the fear of putting effort into nothing, and our false beliefs of what others may think of us. These thoughts make us feel comfortable with doing nothing about our problems.
''You can't remake yourself without suffering, since you're both the marble and the sculptor''
You can force changes in your life, but sometimes life forces you to change. A traumatic event can completely redefine someone. Some of us need to break out of an unhealthy lifestyle. Negative events can sometimes lead to positive outcomes, even though the person doesn't realize this.
To take care of ourselves we need to treat ourselves as if we are taking care of our younger selves.
Keep in mind that we can change how we deal with feelings, but we can't change the inherent feeling.
In most parts of our lives, we are not in control of the outcome, which is why we need to let go of needing to control everything. This, and many other lessons, I wish I could have told my past self.
''It's just myself talking to myself about myself.''
If we're being honest, we're all struggling in this world. It might be physically, mentally, emotionally, or socially. If you could talk to your past self, what would you say?
Dear past self
I figured my twenties would be fun, but instead, I'm reliving traumas and unlearning everything I was taught. I think I'm finally getting the hang of it, at least, that's what I thought yesterday. I thought I knew it all. But what I know now, more than anything, is that I know nothing at all.
Dear past self, before you give up, look at yourself in the mirror without the illusion of time. Look as if the distance between you and me could be counted in fading scars and not seconds.
Before you abandon hope, remember that being good enough has less to do with who you are and more with who you could be.
Before you yield to the voices in your mind. I need to tell you that the stuff you deal with will never silence, so attempt to reshape them. Allow it to radiate through you. It will always be a part of you.
I know it's hard to be kind in a world that has not been kind to you. It's much easier to grow cold and especially when warmth is treated as a weakness. The world is full of beautiful people in the most surprising manners, so learn to trust them.
This life is entirely yours to live however you share this experience with everything alive with you. Find comfort in knowing you have never been nor will ever be alone because we
are here together. Understand that loneliness is nothing compared to unshared happiness.
Sometimes I wish you could see yourself through my eyes, and then I realize that you one day will. For now, gaze into the mirror in front of you as if you could realize that imperfection is just another human construct.
Life has innumerable challenges, so be patient with yourself not achieving everything immediately.
''The stars that shine the brightest sit in the darkest spaces.''
